Lythari Elf Origin

 

The Lythari are an enigmatic race of elves who are able to transform into werewolves once they reach adulthood however unlike most other races, such as Lycanthropes they can transform at will. Within this form they are able to keep their memories intact without the risk of insanity, although they have some what changed from the roots of their descendants most of the Lythari tribes travel to human lands often to trade or sell their wares.

 

When not traveling they live in isolated mountain strongholds allowing access to others of their kind however, it has been known that they very rarely allow outsiders within their villages. Unlike most of their elven descendants the Lythari are taller than common elves and tend to be cautious of those that they meet, despite this the Lythari are friendly and often study new people from afar before coming in contact with them.

 

Vocations

 

Ranger: When he lived within his village Athras was considered by many of his kin within the elven community of Kelethin as a master of the bow, able to use any type of bow to shoot down one or multiple targets with great reflexes and precise accuracy. The Rangers are technically adept in using a mild form of magic such as enhancing their strength and endurance during combat, summoning arrows out of thin air to rain down upon their foes or calling animals to their side to aid them in combat.

 

Sorcerer: When he left from his home to travel Athras met and befriended a Sorcerer named Merrick Reinhardt who took him under his wing it was through Merrick that his talents of using magic came to be. Through the use of such magic Athras is able to enchant any of his weapons with various elements.

 

Background

 

Athras’ past is not exactly a simple one, or something that he openly shares with others. In fact, a good portion of his life was spent training with his twin blades and long bow, just for the sake of survival and self-clarification. What kind of Lythari grows up without knowing at least the basics of their weapon of choice? Athras was a victim in his youth, but growing up never defined himself as such or even allowed what happened to take over who he was. Son of an elder, Athras quickly learned that the Lythari’s way of watching from afar before approaching people was a wise choice. A year before he was to undergo the trial of adulthood and receive his traditional tattoo, another youth from his clan had received word that he would be venturing away from their clan not long after. Jealous, the boy tried to disable Athras' leg in his sleep by trying to slice through the tendon in his leg. Since the Lythari do not get their werewolf forms until after adulthood, it was the ‘perfect’ time for such a crime.

 

Athras however was already skilled at this point in hunting and battle, so the moment that the blade drew blood he was alert and had the boy pinned on the floor with a nice gash across his face as a reminder for what he’d attempted. That boy was banished for the act of treason against the elder’s child, and Athras was punished since he’d almost taken out the boy's eye, but it was nothing more than excessive chores for the next year only adding to the definition of his muscles alongside training. Once he’d set out from the village, his first desire was to learn of the things that were forbidden in the village such as other people’s magic. Outsiders were never welcome among them in their homeland unless it was the utmost of important business and even then, there was a special section and hut of the village where the outsiders would be taken so they would not know which direction the main village was. The Lythari are very protective of their own, especially with the prejudice that comes with their ‘monster’ form as others see it.

 

It would not be an easy venture at first being sheltered from the rest of the world, Athras had to quickly learn and adapt to foreign customs and laws. Once, he was even held overnight for threatening an official with putting an arrow between his eyes if he didn’t provide the information he wanted. They went easy on him, letting him go with the promise of not returning the next day, but he had to figure out the proper way of approaching people and who was safe to challenge and whom to just avoid altogether. Earning money was also difficult, but Athras managed to find tasks that earned him enough for food and shelter as needed on days of bad weather or poor game. The most recent destination is a place he chose to remain for a while. Travel allowed him to see more, but didn’t give him great opportunity for communication with the outsiders. He’d need time to be able to sit and watch different people to figure out their ways, and who would be easier to approach and get to know.

 

In that way, Athras could learn from them and stay safe at the same time. Who knew what kind of people he would meet however, for the Lythari were not quite approachable or open, and could sometimes lead others to believe they were stuck up or reclusive, when the opposite was in fact the reality.

 

Weapons

 

Lythari Shortswords: The blades of these swords are double edged and of a silver color the guard and hilt is of onyx color while the pommel resembles a werewolves hand with a ruby inlaid in its claws. Sword Length: 36 inches

 

Lythari Longbow: The Lythari craft their bows from ironbark trees the wood is flexible and at the same time strong as steel. The string of the bow is made of hemp which is the strongest fibre available and is soaked in Resin for protection against moisture. Bow Length: 46 inches

 

Apparel

 

Lythari Banded Mail: The primary armor of the Lythari which consists of a suit of black chainmail reinforced with layers of black metal plates which is arranged in strips of the armors midsection. This armor offers the same protection as chainmail while at the same time proving to be lighter and more flexible as leather armor.

 

Lythari Cloak: The Lythari often wear cloaks of dark colors most commonly green, blue, red, brown, grey and black. Athras' cloak is dark green with gold trim.

 

Companions

 

Thorn (Nasse in Lythari): Brown medium warhorse that Athras purchased during his travels.

 

Davitur: A male grey hawk of medium size who was found as a fledgling and raised by Athras during his travels away from home.

 

Natural Abilities

 

Werewolf Form: With this natural ability of the Lythari, Armas is able to take the form of a agile but also vicious werewolf. This form however is slightly different from a Lycanthrope, For the Lythari can transform at will anytime.

Keen Senses: With this natural ability the Lythari are perceptive in using their six senses to their advantage.

Dark Vision: With this natural ability the Lythari are able to see in total darkness up to 100 feet.

 

Ranger Abilities

 

Manyshot: With this ability Athras is able to notch up to three arrows upon his longbow.

 

Storm of Arrows: With this ability Athras is able to shoot a single arrow into the air which scatters into multiple arrows and rains down upon his enemies.

 

Cure Wounds: With this ability Athras is able to heal the wounds of others including his own.

 

Entangle: With this ability Athras is able to call upon plants which uproot from the ground to entangle opponents up to 60ft.

 

Detect Poison: With this ability Athras is able to sense poison upon creatures or objects.

 

Calm Animal: With this ability Athras is able to calm down hostile or nervous animals.

 

Charm Animal: With this ability Athras is able to charm any specific animal to becoming friendly toward him.

 

Animal Speak: With this ability Athras is able to communicate with a variety of animals.

 

Sorcerer Spells

 

Enchant Flame: With this spell Athras is able to enchant his swords or arrows with elemental fire.

Enchant Lightning: With this spell Athras is able to enchant his swords or arrows with elemental lightning.

Arcane Arrow: With this spell Athras is able to conjure a single magical arrow which seeks out it's target. Note: Can be enchanted with Fire or Lightning.

Arcane Arrow Flurry: With this spell Athras is able to conjure a single magical arrow when fired it splits off into several arrows which seeks out one or multiple targets. Note: Can be enchanted with Fire or Lightning.

Fireball: With this spell Athras is able to conjure a powerful medium sized orb of flame into his hand which he uses to assault his enemies.

Chain Lightning: With this spell Athras is able to emit a bolt of lightning from his fingertips which arcs towards his enemies.

Tempest: With this spell Athras is able to summon bolts of lightning to rain down upon his enemies.

Flame Missile: With this spell Athras is able to conjure several small fire like orbs from the palm of his hand to strike his enemies.

Lightning Missile: With this spell Athras is able to conjure several small lightning like orbs from the palm of his hand to strike his enemies.
